The Administration of Legal Affairs

The Administration of Legal Affairs is a subordinate of the University Secretary General's. The administration is authorized to prepare the defense to be presented in courts and other authorities regarding lawsuits and legal issues that the University is a part of. It also provides legal consultation to faculties and other administrations of Kuwait University.

Divisions of the Administration:

Department of Grievance and Investigation :

The Department of Grievance and Investigation is delegated to grievance and investigate denouncements and. It also in charge of examining breach of rules (whether it is violation or contravention) to give the most fitted and applicable recommendation. It is also responsible of conducting investigations with administrative employees.

Please note that:

Administrative employees can submit a grievance against administrative decree within 60 days upon being issued or being informed of.

1-Department of Lawsuits and Financial demands :

2-The Department of Lawsuits and Financial demands:

 is delegated to prepare the defense to be presented in court based on correspondence and documents provided by authorized departments in the university that is required for lawsuits and legal dispute which Kuwait University is part of in coordination with Legal Advice and Legislation Council – Councils of Ministers.

Furthermore, the department oversees and enforces debt demands procedures that are due or overdue in behalf of Kuwait University.

3- Department of Consultation and Contracts:

This department is responsible for researching, examining and giving the
appropriate legal advice regarding consultation, contracts, treaties and
agreements.

When seeking consultation, all Kuwait University's administrations, Faculties and such , must submit a detailed memo which includes the following:

Full detailed information of the case.

The regulations and rules governing such cases.

The usual procedure that is followed in such cases.

All related information and documentations.

Examining contracts, treaties and agreements requires the following:

Full copy of the contract, treaty or agreement in Arabic.

Full copy of last and related contracts, treaties or agreements.

All related information and documentations.

Please be informed that:

The Administration of Legal Department is not authorized to study and examine contracts that exceed (75.000 K.D) in value according to the law of Public Tenders no (49 / 2016), since it subject to be examined by Legal Advice and Legislation Council, State Audit Bureau and General Agency for Public Tenders.

4- Department of follow up, Announcements and Experts:

This department is mainly responsible for following up with issued writ of summons and appeals that are brought up against Kuwait University, and complaints that are filed by Kuwait University or against it.

It is responsible for representing the university in all formal investigation authorities and in General Directorate of Experts – Ministry of Justice.

Furthermore, the department must follow up with rulings that are in favor of the university and carrying out the execution of rulings.
